Ed Sheeran’s Play is the album of the week.

The Loop Tour is in support of Ed Sheeran’s new album, Play, which will come out on Friday, September 12, 2025, through Warner Music. This new collection of work includes singles like:

  • “Azizam”
  • “Sapphire”
  • “Old Phone”

Play is a “explorative, technicolour pop album” that captures the raw emotion, chaos, and creative spark that Sheeran found on his travels and in his life. Fans can expect his usual style of songwriting, but with a little more experimentation and energy.

New set and stage design

Sheeran’s 2026 tour will have a whole new stage design, with new visuals, better production, and interactive elements. He continues to test the limits with each tour, and this time he’s bringing more stories, interactive parts, and surprises for fans in Australia and New Zealand.

This isn’t just another Sheeran concert; it’s a whole new story.

Touring legacy – placing new records and altering the way live music is done

Setting the bar high is something Ed Sheeran is used to. His last trip to Australia in 2023 for the Mathematics Tour set a lot of records:

The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)

  • Night 1: 105,000 people came, which was a record at the time.
  • Night 2: 109,500 people came, breaking his own record again.

His 18-date Divide Tour in 2018 sold more than 1 million tickets in Australia and New Zealand. That tour beat Dire Straits’ Brothers in Arms tour from 1986, which had sold 950,000 tickets and held the trans-Tasman sales record.

He also broke AC/DC’s record for the most stadium shows on a single tour in the area, which was 14 shows.

So far, Ed Sheeran has sold more than 2.5 million tickets in Australia and New Zealand, and that number keeps going up.

The Perth connection – making history.

Fans in Perth know the immense energy Sheeran brings. His March 2023 show at Optus Stadium drew a record 73,092 fans, making it the biggest crowd ever at the venue. He is also the first artist to play there, having begun his Divide Tour at the stadium in 2018.

It’s not surprising that a second date in Perth was essential; demand in WA has always been through the roof.

Sydney shows up with three huge shows

Sheeran’s time in Sydney at Accor Stadium consists of three back-to-back shows, thanks to the addition of a third night. The fans in the city are some of the most loyal, and the new date of Sunday, February 15, means that even more Sheerios can enjoy the live magic.

People say that the Sydney shows will be unforgettable, whether they are new songs or old favourites.

Brisbane and Melbourne react with full arenas on weekends.

Brisbane and Melbourne have also raised the stakes. The Loop Tour will now have three-night runs in both cities, and the extra Sunday shows are filling up fast.

Marvel Stadium in Melbourne will have a high-energy end to February, and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane will host a weekend of hits and heartfelt moments.

It’s easy to see why Ed Sheeran is still a fan favourite down under, with each show adding new layers to the live experience.

What is crucial about Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour

This is more than just a concert. It’s a moment that both the artist and the audience share, a loop of energy, emotion, and connection.

Sheeran is ready to do something great with a new album, new stage visuals, and record-breaking success. The Loop Tour feels more important, personal, and alive than ever.

For a lot of fans, this might be the first time they’ve experienced him live. For others, it’s a welcome return. The 2026 tour is going to be one of the best musical events of the year, no matter what.

Last thoughts – don’t let this chance pass you by.
