The Block 2025 is back for its 21st season, and it’s Australia’s favourite renovation show. This season, called The Block: Heartland, requires place in the beautiful town of Daylesford, Victoria. It promises to be one of the most exciting and competitive seasons yet. With five new teams, a level playing field, and high-stakes decisions regarding design, viewers can expect a lot of creativity, conflict, and change.

What new things are happening this year on The Block?

  • Daylesford, Victoria, at the corner of Raglan St. and Malsbury Rd.
  • On Channel 9 and 9Now, the show will premiere on Sunday, July 27, at 7 p.m.
  • Format for the season: For the first time ever, contestants will build five homes from the ground up, and they will all be the same size and layout.
  • House Specs: Each house has a finished frame, 346 square metres of living space, and sits on more than 2,300 square metres of land.
  • Julian Brenchley is the architect.
  • New Rule: No staying up all night; the site locks up at night now.
  • Price: The team that makes the most money at the auction gets an extra $100,000.

A lot of changes to the format and rules

This season is different from all the others. All five teams are starting from scratch for the first time, and their floor plans are the same. Judges say it’s a real test of both creativity and execution. “This is the most real competition in The Block’s history,” said Marty Fox.

The Block caravans and lifestyle change

There are no more nights spent in half-built homes. Contestants are staying in luxury caravans off-site, which may help them get more rest and have fewer breakdowns. “Past contestants might get jealous,” Marty Fox joked.

Trends in design to keep an eye on

Judges Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer have already seen new trends in home design:

  • Country music with a twist
  • Using natural materials and textures
  • Soft colours and bold patterns were used together.
  • Mid-century western and carefully chosen maximalism
  • Modern farmhouse and colour drenching
  • Each team is enjoying the charm of Daylesford’s countryside in their own way.

The first-look trailer shows some surprises.

The exclusive trailer says:

  • A possible wedding for Block
  • Signs of being pregnant
  • Crying, throwing things, and “the biggest botch ever” in the history of the show
  • Scott Cam, the host, says he’s already been with the winners.

What will happen on auction day

The judges say:

  • Daylesford’s appeal as a weekend retreat means that outdoor amenities will be very important.
  • The modern farmhouse look might not appeal to all buyers.
  • Expect strong opinions from viewers and popular fan favourites to come out.

Blaze says, “Some contestants do a little twist that could put them at the front.”

Chemistry between the cast and first impressions

A video before the premiere gave us a look at how the team got along:

  • Han and Can: “We’ve never fought.”
  • Taz says Britt is “chaotic” in a loving way.
  • Unseen clip: One contestant called it “sassy, funny, and a comedy show.”

These early teasers make it clear that there will be a lot of both drama and humour.

Marking a big event

The Block 2025 will also be the 1000th episode of the show, which shows how important it is to culture and how popular it has been for so long.

Why people should watch

The Block 2025 is shaping up to be a fan-favorite season, with emotional family moments, career sacrifices, design experiments, and personality clashes. Since all the teams start from the same place, it’s not just about money or experience. It’s also about having big ideas, being tough, and getting things done under pressure.

This season is for you if you like design, drama, or simply want to know how a plumber, a geologist, a police officer, and a dance teacher do in the same competition.

Set your alarms: The Block 2025 starts on Channel 9 and 9Now on Sunday, July 27 at 7 p.m.
